Badin being predominantly agricultural
area, the available industries are agro based. Presently there
are six large scale units engaged in the production of sugar
and are providing employment to namely 6,000 persons. Besides
there are 12 rice husking mills. There are bright prospects
of agro-based and agro allied industry as adequate raw material.

1) Mining
In the year 1981 this district came into lime light when the first
oil well at Khaskheli started production. At present four oil fields
in Badin under the joint venture with BP. are producing about half
of the total quantity of oil in Pakistan . The gas reservoirs have
also been struck at some places and Golarchi Gas field has been
commissioned.
2) Trade and trade Centers
Badin is trading centre for sugarcane/tomato and fish. It is one of the biggest tomato market of country.
3) Communications
A comprehensive network of roads exist in the district which caters to the general communication needs and also fulfills the requirements for transportation of sugarcane to the mills. About 1030 kilometers of pacca roads and 1100 kilometers katcha roads have been constructed in the district. The district headquarters Badin is linked with its taluka headquarters through metalled roads. The China Raod Bridge construction company Ltd., has recently constructed a broad way from Badin to Sajawal (50 kilometers).
The district is also served by a railway line which connects Badin with Hyderabad passing through Matli. The postal and telephone facilities available in the district during, 1998-99 are as under
